Abstract
The world Health is defined as the state of well be of an indiviual physically, mentally and socially. Thus the significance of health can be emphasized in the development of nation, especially a develoiping nation like India. Although this world is witnessing newer medical advents, still at different times humankind may suffer from sudden clamities like infectious epedmics or endemics like cholere, Plague, Hepatitis etc. These epidemological infectious diseases are inter dependent on epedemic triad consisting of host (Human Being), environment and microorganism (Pathogen). It is well established fact in the medical leterature that ability of these pathogen to cause infections enhanced by the environment. Bagalkot region is such geographical locality which is affected to larger extend from back water storage of Almatti Dam Project. The available data from Govt. and Non Govt. medical settings reveals that there is chaning trend in the infection over the last 3 years due to back water storage.As a cross disciplinary approach GIS is instrumental in the Projects of Public health and Epidemology. The traditional maps and conventional thinking between location, surrounding environment and diseases as limitations in its applications. Hence GIS could be used as a tool in monitoring infectious epidemic diseases and environment health. The GIS tool enables the researchers to locate the area, populations at risks that are in need of precautions and to make decisions on resource alocations available.This paper highlights the profile of various epedemic infections in Bagalkot region and also the implications of GIS of technology in identifying and monitoring the core issue. So which may be of advantage in preventing such calamities.
