Map India, the most successful series of conferences on geospatial technologies held in India
since 1998, is poised to enter a new period beginning 2008. As India strives to achieve the
outlined goals of overall social and economic development in its 60th year of Independence,
Map India too aims to take the development and penetration of geospatial information
technologies to an unprecedented level, not just in India but in the entire South Asian region.
Innovation is the key to success of any event and Map India is no exception. Map India 2008
seeks to differ from the earlier conferences of the series in terms of scale and design. India
Expo Centre at Greater Noida, one of the most modern conference facility in India, has been
chosen as the venue owing to its strategic location and world class facilities. It will not only
add value to the event but also provide opportunities for increased participation of various
stakeholders of the geospatial community, both from India and abroad. Apart from the venue,
the proposed seminars too, have been designed differently to offer greater variety to the
participants. The seminars will be organised in collaboration with partners from the Industry,
Academia and Government in order to enable increased proliferation and percolation of GIT
across the entire length and breadth of the geospatial spectrum.
Map India 2008, thus, promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
